Pune district registered an overall voting percentage of 61.62% which is an increase from the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly poll figures.

More men exercised their right to vote in Maharashtra’s Pune district, compared to women, in the recently concluded Assembly elections. Overall, 62.34 per cent of registered male voters exercised their right to vote, compared to 60.86 per cent of registered female voters, data released by the Election Commission of India (ECI) showed. Of the 805 transgender voters registered in Pune, only 196 (24.35 per cent) exercised their franchise.
Pune district registered 61.62 per cent overall voting, which is an increase from the 2019 Assembly polls. District collector Suhas Diwase said voting also showed a rise compared to the recently held Lok Sabha polls.
In five of the district’s 21 constituencies, more women cast their votes than men. In Pimpri, the percentage of male voters stood at 51.66, compared to 51.99 per cent women. Whereas, in Kothrud, 51.42 per cent of the male voters exercised their right, compared to 54.03 per cent of the women. Khadakwasla the male voting percentage was 55.91 and female voting percentage was 57.02; in Bhosari, 60.63 per cent of the men voted and 62.62 per cent of the women, while in Parvati the figures were 56.12 per cent among men and 56.23 per cent among women.
The lowest voting percentage by women was reported in Hadapsar (49.85%), while the highest was recorded in Indapur (75.74%).
In Baramati, where Nationalist Congress Party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is fighting to retain his seat against his nephew Yugendra Pawar of the NCP(SP), 68.95 per cent of the women voted as against 74.13 per cent of the men. Ajit was accompanied by women from his constituency when he filed his nomination, underling the Mahayuti’s emphasis on the Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojna which provides women a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500. The alliance hopes this scheme would help them recover the ground lost in the Lok Sabha elections.
Pune, which has a total of 805 registered transgender voters, saw only 196 of them voting. The district collectorate and the social welfare department had carried out massive campaigns to help transgender people register to vote.
